Inbox Hack: The 4-Minute Trick to Get Your Emails Seen First

A Simple Timing Tweak to Keep Your Handmade Brand at the Top of Your Customer’s Inbox

Send your emails 4 minutes later than the default settings in Klaviyo (or whatever email platform you use).

  • Sending at 10:00 AM? Send at 10:04 AM.

  • 2:00 PM? Try 2:07 PM.

This small tweak can bump your emails to the top of the inbox when customers check their messages—putting you ahead of every other brand sending on the hour.

Inbox Hack: The 4-Minute Trick to Get Your Emails Seen First

Today's Topic: Must-Have Email Flows for Handmade Sellers

"Should I add more email flows?"

I get this question all the time from handmade sellers.

The answer? It depends.

Here’s what actually matters:

  • How many people will see this flow every month?

  • Will it convert better than a regular email campaign?

  • Is it worth the effort?

Let’s break it down.

The Most Important Flows for Handmade Brands

Klaviyo (and other platforms) love to push welcome flows because they bring in the highest ROI in ecommerce. And they’re right.

Winback flows? That’s a different story. These target customers who haven’t bought in a long time—many aren’t interested anymore. You’d need 10-20x more people to generate the same revenue as a solid welcome flow. The Key Factors:

Under $100K: Focus on the basics (Welcome → Abandoned Cart → Thank You)

$100K - $500K: Add a Post-Purchase Flow (cross-sell, review request)

$500K - $1M: Layer in Winback Flows (but test before relying on them!)

$1M+: Get fancy with Browse Abandonment, VIP, and Re-engagement Flows

Instead of overcomplicating things, here’s a simple guide the Bedford team created:

What NOT to Do

🚫 Don’t jump ahead. A 10% better welcome flow will outperform a birthday email every time.

🚫 Your Abandoned Cart flow will make you way more money than a sunset flow ever will.

🚫 More flows ≠ more money. It’s better to master the basics before adding complexity.

"But won’t I miss reaching some people?"

Nope! If you're sending regular campaigns and segmenting your audience properly, those people are already seeing your emails.

Every handmade business is different, and sometimes it makes sense to test a flow sooner. Not sure if that’s you? Reply to this email—I actually read them and will help you figure it out.
